Welcome to Blaby Bridge Club

The club was founded in 1947 by Nora and Harold Toon. Both were keen bowls players so the Bridge Club has always used Blaby Bowling Club as its premises apart from the summer months when bowls takes precedence.

Club night is Tuesday when we play a duplicate session. Our aim is to provide a friendly environment for our game of bridge. We are affiliated to the EBU so we award Master points for each session.

We start play at 7.30 p.m.

Our venue from September to April is

Blaby Bowling Club, Leicester Road, Blaby LE8 4GQ

From April to September we play at

Countesthorpe Conservative Club, 30 Main Street, Countesthorpe LE8 5QX

Visitors are always welcome when partnering a member BUT a Pair of Visitors should contact us rather turning up
un-announced as they may be turned away if the venue is full.

Our club chairman is Dave Pollard - 0116 2109374

Our treasurer is Roger Cook - 0116  2892368

Our secretary is Doreen Arnold - 0116 2867838

We will always do our best to find a partner for those of you who need one. Rowena Payne provides a ‘Dial a Partner’ service on 0116 2785294. Please give her ample warning of your requirements.

Table money for our Tuesday evening duplicate sessions at Blaby Bowling Club is £1.50 for club members and £2.00p for visitors. This includes a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits half way through the evening.

Table money for our Tuesday evening duplicate sessions at Countesthorpe Conservative Club is £1.00 for club                         members and £1.50p for visitors. A licenced bar is open for refreshments.

Our club membership fee is £6 per year. We hope you will want to join us as a full member of the club.

Club membership entitles you to take part in various competitions. We have three club trophies:

The ‘Club Cup’ is awarded annually to the pair with the three best results out of six designated Tuesday duplicate sessions during our season at the Bowling club.

The ‘Toon Cup’ is awarded to the pair with the most improved results compared with the previous season’s results for the duplicate sessions during the year.

The ‘Summer Tankard’ is a handicapped team competition organised at the end of our summer session.

We run three teams in the Leicestershire Contract Bridge Association League in Divisions 1, 3 & 4.

We usually run qualifying rounds for other LCBA competitions such as the Gimson Trophy pairs and the Josephs Bowl teams events. We also take part in the David Boston Simultaneous Pairs with the proceeds going to the LOROS Charity
